WIND ENERGY
Renewable Energy Source

Wind Energy, also refered to as Wind Power, is the use of air flow through wind turbines to mechanically move generators for electricity production. Wind power, as an alternative to burning fossil fuels, is plentiful, renewable, widely distributed worldwide, clean, produces no greenhouse gas emissions during operation, consumes no water, and requires small land space to install.

Wind Farm in the countryside

The net effects of wind power on the environment are far less of a problem than those caused by nonrenewable energy sources. Wind power does not contaminate the atmosphere. Wind turbines are generally grouped together in what is called "Wind Farms", to make use of economies of scale. Read more about

List of the Many Organizations engaging in Wind Energy (wind power):

WWEA:
WWEA is the World Wind Energy Association, an international non-profit association embracing the worldwide wind energy sector, with more than 600 members in over 100 countries. WWEA works for the promotion and worldwide deployment of wind energy technology.

CANWEA:
Canadian Wind Energy Association CanWEA is the voice of the wind energy industry in Canada, actively promoting the responsible and sustainable growth of the use of the wind.

BWE:

German Wind Energy Association Climate change and rising energy costs are a crucial challenge for the 21st century and will remain so. The increasing scarcity of fossil energy, growing demand for energy, and the warming of our planet are all reasons to consider wind power.

NZWEA:
New Zealand Wind Energy Association The New Zealand Wind Energy Association (NZWEA) is a membership-based industry association that promotes the development of wind as a reliable, sustainable, clean and commercially viable energy source.

WIND POWER DB:
The Wind Power Database The Wind Power is a comprehensive database of detailed raw statistics on wind energy and its supporting markets.

VESTAS:
Vestas is a global energy company dedicated exclusively to wind energy for improving business case certainty and reducing the cost of energy for their customers.

WINDEUROPE:
WindEurope WindEurope is the voice of the wind industry, actively promoting wind power in Europe and worldwide. It has over 450 members, and is active in over 40 countries. In addition to wind turbine manufacturers, membership encompasses component suppliers, research institutes, national wind and renewables associations, developers, contractors, electricity providers, finance and insurance companies, and consultants.

SAWEA:
SAWEA through Wind power, seeks promotion of renewable power in large and small-scale applications in South Africa as a least cost option and as a direct contribution to the achievement of national development and climate change objectives.
